Students Compete in State Cooking Competition
Even on a no-school day, CSA students are proudly representing the Community STE[A]M Academy at the Ohio Grown: Student Chef Showcase Cooking Competition in Columbus today.
The team "Awesome Sauce" created their recipe that began in their integrated Science class as part of a class assignment. With more than 200 entries, they were chosen as one of the top 5 and were invited to compete live at Columbus State Community College in Columbus today. After being chosen as a finalist, they refined their recipe, making it numerous times, including for the entire high school lunch and staff. The recipe was evaluated on taste and presentation.
As part of the competition, students also had to make a display to present during the competition. They have worked with various chefs and community leaders learning prep techniques and proper food safety protocol.
Students competing include Logan, Kaleigha, Jose, Jaslen and Abhinav. We are so proud of them!!
The winning team’s recipe will be a featured recipe in all of the school cafeteria’s in Ohio.
