What is Community STE(A)M Academy - Xenia?

The unique irony of education today is that we must educate our students to be successful in careers that are not in existence.  In fact, according to the Institute for the Future an estimate of 85 percent of the jobs will be new for them. Educating each student for success in a future workforce requires both content and skills to be creative and responsive to real-world problems. STEAM is not just doing an activity or lesson that involves science, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics.  STEAM is taking the benefits that come from implementing all five of those content areas into a project-based learning experience.  You are no longer isolating content to memorize for a test but engaging in understanding concepts to apply into actual community (local or global) concerns.  The synergy of STEAM occurs when ALL of the core academic content is merged into learning through the nature and process of Science, the application of such knowledge as Technology, the designing qualities of Engineering, the creativity of the Arts, and the universal logic of Mathematics to produce a combined effect greater of understanding than the sum of their separate effects.
